The museum Bali is definitely worth a visit. It is conveniently close to Badung Government Tourist Office, east of Puputan Square at Jalan Mayor Wisnu. The erection of the complex was started in 1910, two years after the whole parts of Bali under Dutch control. It was Mr.W.F.J.Kroon (the second assistant resident) who the decline under foreign influence. He together with Mr. Curt Grundler a German architect to build up ethnographic museum. It is constructed under combination of pura (temple) and puri (palace) architecture.
 
After having surmounted many difficulties, the process of building was entirely finished in 1925, when Bali had lost a lot of its art and cultural treasure. In 1930 Dr.W.F Stutterheim, chief of the Archeology cal service proposed to continue the plan and to retake the scattered antiquities. Finally on December 1932, Mr. Walter Spies Dr.Gorries, Mr.T.HH.A Resink decided to recollect archeological remains and supported with other collections which it has till today. The Museum is nicely laid out in a series of grass courtyards containing examples of various facts of Balinese architectures such as: Candi Bentar(split gate), Candi Gelung (covered gate), aling - aling (screen wall), Bale Kulkul (wooden bell tower) while the three main buildings are representing regional architecture Tabanan (north building), Karangasem (center building), Buleleng (south building).

Most of bali's ancient remains and artifacts are to be found in the narrow region bounded by two holy rivers, the Pekerisan and the Petanu. Crossing the Petanu river immedietely to the east of Peliatan on the road to Bedulu, the mysterious Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) is just visible on the lower side of the road. The Cave's gaping mouth is fantastically carved with leaves, rocks, animals, waves and demons, and when it was discovered in 1923 these carving were apparently mistaken for an elephant.

The temple just laid out next to the Museum Bali is the state temple. The central feature is a huge Padmasana, Lotus throne, upon which the God sit when invoked during the ceremony. It is also a declaration of Bali's official monotheism. The Padmasana rest on the back of world Turtle, clenched by dragons surrounded by lotus pond. The outer alls of the plints have been lavishly decorated by relief carvings of scenes from Ramayana and Mahabrata. Twice a month, on dark and full moon, people are pouring down with simple offerings on pray make colorful and incense smelled air, while the shadow Puppet play (Wayang Kulit) highlighting the mass-prays, (from 21.00-23.00)
